First Driving Lesson (finally!)

I organised with my dad to have my first driving lesson today. In the end, my brother ended up joining in too, as he just got his learner's licence this year.

It reconfirmed my suspicion that I have poor coordination. My head plays havoc with the rest of me and I think I'll have to do a lot to train my muscles to respond properly. It's like that with everything I try, it seems.

We went to a back street loop about 5-10 minutes from our place, which seems a popular spot for learner drivers. There were a few others around too. Dad's taught a lot of people to drive, from Mum to his siblings, as well as my sisters, so he's had plenty of experience. It seems to me that you need steady nerves to take beginner drivers out. I think we worried Dad more than we were worried ourselves.

So today's lesson was the basics of preparing to drive and starting the engine. Then we drove around the same four streets: left turns only. Steering wheel control and coordinating using the brake and accelerator were the hardest parts I found. Was being extra cautious, so I was driving really slowly.

As with anything, I'm not going to rush, but take my time learning. I have 120 hours of driving to do anyway, so I guess the idea is to do as much driving as possible when I have time so I can finally gain this skill. Still don't really like cars much.
