Update on Events

It's been a while since I wrote anything, mainly because not much has been occurring to warrant me writing. Or at least, because I've fallen into a bit of a void (that's what it feels like anyway).

In the past few weeks I was working on a uni assessment, which was interesting but somewhat annoying as I could have been doing other things.

Sunday 26 April
Went and did a St John duty for the first time in a long time. It was at the Rocks Markets, which is covered by our division. The day was pretty good, the weather was sunny, if a bit windy. Because I hadn't done a Rocks Markets duty for about a year, I forget to put the legs down on the trailer when I was opening it and I managed to injure myself - the only casualty of the day. Somehow, I always end up having to treat myself at duties, which is unfortunate.

Friday
A pretty long day. Had class and handed in my assignment, before going to a cross-departmental seminar. It was interesting, but required a lot of brain power to follow what was being discussed. Had kendo training before heading off to dinner with everyone. I finally feel like I'm starting to improve, even though I know that it is actually a very gradual thing.

Saturday
Spent the day in the kitchen making stuff/preparing for our Quarter-Life Crisis Party, which was held at my friend's place. We were just looking for an excuse to throw a party really. We ended up preparing a lot of ingredients so that everyone could make their own pizzas. I made some garlic bread and devilled eggs, as well as a chocolate mousse which turned out a lot darker and richer than I expected. Not everyone likes their chocolate as dark as I do, but on the whole it was successful. Got to catch up with a lot of friends whom I hadn't seen for a while and met some interesting people.

Monday
Went in to uni to do some work on the microscope before going to kendo training. I've actually had a headache since Friday, so when I got home I really just wanted to sleep. However, after dinner, my aunt brought over my cousin who will be staying with us for a while, so I had to look after my other little cousin who is two and half years old and really energetic. She's exposed to three different languages (Vietnamese, Cantonese and English), so she doesn't really speak much yet even though she definitely understands what's said to her. She's really lucky, according to my sister who studies linguistics, cos she'll have a huge native phonetic base once she starts speaking.
