Today, after a lot of jiggling around with dates and times, our society had our first meeting of the new executive members. We decided to use some the new meeting rooms in the Scitech Library, but were told that one of them was for staff only on the weekends. We ended up in the far corner room, which has a kitchenette and a table with computers. Wasn't exactly ideal for a meeting, but after everyone turned up (a bit of tardiness was observed), we got onto business.
With more than half our exco travelling over the summer and with our president only stepping off his flight this morning, we had not organised anything useful for the imminent O-Week days. It was an intensive session with a lot of passing on information from the Clubs and Societies Conference day a few days ago (like a whole series of lectures, but worse), listening to the material presented from a Marketing Strategy day hosted by MITRA (the Youth Buddhist Network) last week, and bouncing off our ideas for the recruitment days next week.
With my sisters and I making up a third of those present, I fear we rather took over the entire meeting, especially with our president tired from his flight. We all have a lot of things to be getting on with over the next week, what with doing all the fiddly decoration-making, purchasing, printing, website fixing, event organising and whatnot that would usually take a few weeks. So really, don't expect me to be around much.
