In lieu of our annual performance night, Unibodhi held a Games Night as our major social event for 2009. My sisters pretty much organised everything, from the room and food to the games and prizes. I have to say, they did a really good job.
We actually began by holding an open executive committee meeting, in the hopes that we would foster some interest among our members in becoming involved with running the society next year, in light of our upcoming AGM.
The weather turned inclement as we headed towards the venue, with a group of us becoming a slightly damp. We took shelter and waited as more people arrived, before I led a couple of lads to pick up the pizzas nearby. We returned with the stack (they had accidentally given us an extra pizza) to a much larger group. Decided to eat it, as they were turning cold and cold pizzas detract from their true pizzaness.
The games did not get underway before a bit of organising of the room and its facilities, socialising and handing out of our very spiffy new t-shirts.
A Dharma wheel board, where you travel around the board from start to finish, going through the Eightfold Path. Five groups randomly assorted by raffle tickets (also doubling for luck-door prizes). Lots of random minigames. And a die with a gold 'P' for penalty games.
It was unfortunate that many people had to leave early as they missed out on the prize-giving, where in the end, everyone went home with something. Even if they were empty-handed like me (although I was carrying the leftover snacks), I am sure they took a pretty enjoyable memory of a moderately successful event with them. Well, I hope so anyway.
