Uneventfulness Punctuated

I could very easily say that I have been not doing much of anything lately, but that would only be generally factual.

Having been combating a cold - for the past couple of weeks - and the prolonged recovery that usually accompanies it in my case, I have also been doing a few other things.

#1 Unibodhi Business
Our president has abandoned us, which means that I'll be taking over a lot of tedious business on the communication and organisation side, which although is not exactly part of my portfolio as secretary (only generally speaking), is I admit, one of my fortes. Sometimes I wonder if it would not be easier to be less competent in some areas.

#2 Kendo
Being ill has made training good for my recovery in some ways, but also difficult in others. Thankfully, I didn't actually have influenza (of any kind). To which was added various other ailments, such as leg that protests too much, causing discomfort that anyone could do without.

Did my first grading, which went okay I guess, considering that I passed. I find that you're always harder on yourself than others are on you generally speaking. And I'm not just referring to myself. As always, I learnt a lot.

I was planning on taking several weeks off training to get my foot fixed up, but one of my friends is now urging me to consider Uni Games in September. Don't know whether I'm quite ready for that yet, although I'm sure that the experience and things to learn would be great.

#3 St John Ambulance
It's that time of year, where I'm starting to realise that I haven't done enough duties for being one of the more experienced members. I did attend the Aroma Coffee Festival. Great weather, crowds and crowds, free coffee (for us anyway) and some interesting things to see. I didn't end up treating anyone, but my friend got 4 ambulance transports (or something like that), while another colleague injured himself by tripping and ended up being a casualty himself. Great look that.

It's also the time of year that I have to re-certify for some aspects of competency, e.g. using oxygen and analgesia, etc. so it will be a busy couple of weeks ahead. Especially considering that the City to Surf is on this weekend.

#4 Honours
I've been a bit slack about my work, even after a useful chat with my supervisor, and have come to a complete stop. Or perhaps I should I call it a hill start. I can feel the pressure building. Trouble is, where do I start? Actually scrap that, I already know. Just do it. Right, I better stop having a conversation with myself in public.

Well the only other thing is that I'm rather annoyed at myself for missing a message from my uncle about an invitation to his exhibition at Sydney Design Week for the opening night, last night. I would definitely have attended. Now I'll just have to go and see it in my own time.
