#1 Green/White Card
Today I attended a WorkCover course today for the Green Card (General Induction to Working on Construction Sites), which was boring and interesting at the same time.
While I realise that construction sites are highly dangerous places, I doubt anyone ever realises how dangerous they are before they are actually working in one. Thank the stars that I'm not actually a construction worker.
Yes, workplace safety is really important, but it can be really boring and repetitive. I guess that's just so that you remember it better. Thankfully, our instructor/trainer was quite entertaining and seemed like he had lots of experience. That sort of trainer is the best kind.
The course participants were mainly men from overseas, with only four women (myself included). The final assessment was pretty easy; we were told the answers repeatedly throughout the course.
#2 The Parcel
No, this is not some title for an obscure book or film. Rather, a description of the object in my bedroom when I returned.
BOGU!!!
Anyway, I haven't opened it yet cos I need to finish this first:
#3 Resubmission
To be...or resubmit? That is the question. Well, it was.
I found out that the assignment I completed and submitted last week was given an extension, so after pondering deeply I decided to rewrite the entire damned thing!!!
Given that the research I did will be useful when it comes to writing my thesis (...next year), this is not such a ridiculous decision as it might first seem. Firstly, if I was so dissatisfied with the submission that I myself found the entire argument weak, undeveloped and irrelevant (who expected 'bony'?), then surely I should give it another stab. And also, when it might affect the final outcome of your whole university degree, then of course, you'd do it again.
Forget about the additional sleepless nights, agonisingly mind-numbing blanks and brainburn from information-analysis overexposure. Don't let anyone tell you that academia is for the faint-hearted.
So yeah, basically the parcel and everything else I was planning to do this week are rewards. And that only leaves me tomorrow to pack/prepare before flying on Sunday.
