overslept so I was late for an appointment. There are so few trains on the weekend that I had to wait around for trains all day. After my appointment was over, I got some lunch and headed to the Burwood Kendo Competition to watch. Ended up on the wrong train so I had to get off and go back. Sigh.
I entered the hall as they were playing the team competitions. Got to watch that, the women's team comp and a bit of the dan team comp before I had to leave. Speaking to a few of the other beginners who had showed up, everyone seemed quite keen to get into bogu and compete. Personally, I found the whole experience really interesting. We get to see some of the senior players in training, but it really is quite different in competition. the dan players in particular: solid and clean kendo, but so fast at times that I couldn't quite catch what happened. Still find that my competitive spirit is lacking. If I ever went into competition, that mental obstacle would be the hardest thing to overcome I think - the lack of the desire to win.
