Had another bigg breakfast today before setting out to go to Kunst Haus Wien, but we ended up at a weird heating plant in the opposite direction. It was designed by the same person though, so after some reassessment of the situation, we ended up at the right place.
If anyone is interested in this house, here is the website: http://www1.kunsthauswien.com/english/mainindex.htm. It's pretty cool. The floors are uneven and there are trees growing out the windows. I love the creaky floorboards too. There are exhibitions there for the artist who designed these houses and many other things, like postage stamps, second flags for Australia and New Zealand and a fwe buildings and housing estates. His name is Hundertwasser. I like a lot of his artwork, which is not really the type of stuff I have really considered before. His housing designs are plain wicked. There was an apartment block down the road that he designed too, so we visited that also.
Today was the day that A's boyfriend L arrived to join us, so she was a little faraway this morning before she left us to go and meet him at the airport. S and I went to the supermarket to get some makings for a decent dinner - hamburgers, with stollen and custard for dessert. I love stollen. It's an Advent fruit cake, that's buttery and just really tasty. Got really stuffed after we ate. We went back up to our room so L could sleep after his flights and so we could pack as we are leaving for Italy tomorrow evening, but L discovered that a friend of his is in Vienna until tomorrow as well, so they are downstairs in the bar now catching up.
Incidentally, we bought a cube of fresh yeast that we thought was butter and didn't discover it until we were trying to cook the meat. Luckily there was a bottle of oil in the kitchen we could use. I don't think we were paying attention and they put it right next to the other, larger blocks of butter. Will have to reassess the way we are figuring out what things are in supermarkets here. Custard for instance, is called pudding. Thankfully, it was actually custard.
