Prague and Cesky Krumlov

Monday

Spent a lazy day wandering around the streets in the other direction from our hostel, through a cemetery where we saw a red squirrel probably, then to the supermarket at a local shopping centre before returning to make a hot lunch at the hostel. We were too tired from the previous day to make another trip into town, so we stayed in and didn't do much. I did make another trip to the supermarket to get some more food though and took a wrong turn coming back.

Tuesday

Did a lot of walking and shopping. Saw the astronomical clock at noon, went to a Christmas concert in a church chapel and tried some hot mead and potato cake with sausage, which was really good. I got separated from my friends a few times - it always happens. I'm looking at something, I turn around, and they're gone. Luckily, I just wander around until they find me or I find them. At times like that, I think I understand the power of the mobile phone.

Wednesday

Took a coach to Cesky Krumlov, which took a few hours. The countryside got more snow covered as we went and we found the town to be covered from the snow from a few days ago. There are pensions and restaurants practically everywhere we go in town. Had a good hot lunch for a decent price at a recommended restaurant. We're getting pretty good at finding the closest supermarket to where we are staying everywhere. It's a nice place. My friend made a very small snowman in the back garden to our place. It's small, quiet, with clean air and eminently walkable. Just our sort of place to be.
