Berlin and Prague

Haven't had a chance to write in a while and a few things have happened (be strange if there hadn't been any).

Wednesday
We went to the main train the next day to organise train tickets before going to the Museum of German Film and Television, which was really interesting. Didn't really know much about German film prior to this. It was a rainy, windy day so it was good to spend it inside. Had dinner and returned.

Thursday
Spent some time in a shopping area with interesting designer-trendy type shops with lots of homeware stuff. Went to another part of town that mainly had lots of cafes and small op shops, before having a really early dinner at a fusion Viet place - kind of odd. Thursday nights are free entry at the state museums and galleries, so we went to the Old Museum where the Egypt Museum is. They have so many artefacts. The Nefertiti bust was really beautiful and one of the main attractions of the museum. Returned to pack.

Friday
A travelling day. Train from Berlin to Dresden. A couple had sat in one of our reserved seats and they didn't speak English, so we had to ask for intervention from the train conductor when she came by.

Dresden was really nice, full of Christmas Markets - at least the part where we were - but we only had time to go and visit the Zwinger and walk around. Tried some plum gluhwein which was really nice.

Train from Dresden to Prague was interesting. Had a six-seater compartment to ourselves and as it was dark outside, couldn't see much, so mostly slept. Got a bit lost in the streets of Prague while searching for our accommodation, but we arrived and slept some more.

Saturday
Forgot it was a Saturday so no banks were open and lots of people on the streets. Wandering brought us to the busy part of town. Ran into a few Christmas Markets as well. City not too big, can probably walk to the places we want to the go. Visited some souvenir shops to browse and listened to a choir at a market. There is the greatest concentration of McDonalds than any of us have seen anywhere here. Ended up at a Chinese restaurant for lunch. My mandarin really needs some work. They gave us knives and forks too, which I found weird. Food was westernised, but okay. Went to a supermarket and returned really early.
