So I went and got some dinner after leaving the library on Thursday. I went for Japanese since I hadn't had rice for a while. Must the Asian in me craving the staple we've evolved to eat...
Had to wait quite a while for the bus back, which was really packed with rowdy people - ugh. I felt sorry for those people who were left stranded at the bus stops cos the bus was too full to pick up more passengers. From what I could figure out, at that time of the night, the bus only comes once every hour!
Bit of an odd night afterwards, cos I had to change rooms as there was a problem with the bed in my room. Then, when I was showering, a guy came into the female bathroom...that gave me a bit of a moment. Anyway, he wandered back out again. I told the staff, so I don't know what happened after that.
Yesterday, I took the train up to Caboolture to go to a museum up there, which involved a lot of travelling and waiting. It was pretty out of the way and it wasn't until I got there that I realised that it would be hard to get back as there was no bus stop nearby. Well the exhibition was interesting enough, varied and all, but really the staff should do something about the instructions on how to get there on their website. I had to get a taxi back to the train station, which is of course pricey. I considered walking, but it was about 8km of mostly highway and while the distance doesn't exactly faze me (less than 2 hours walk really), there was a lot of road construction going on, I didn't have a very good map and it looked like rain (which it did a bit later).
It had turned quite cool by then, so back in Brisbane I hunted up an early dinner and ended up shopping. The late night shopping here is on Friday. Not that there is much here that I can't get in Sydney.
Checked out this morning and went down to the Botanic Gardens which had areas of refurbishment too. The map was kind of hard to follow, cos you think you're looking for a path, but it's really indication a patch of lawn for instance. Weird.
Had the best meal I had all week, omurice at a Japanese place in South Bank, before heading to the Art Gallery. I would have liked to have seen the American Impressionism exhibition, but even concession price was $16 and I'm not that into impressionism. They had an interesting range of Asian ceramics from a few different periods. And the gallery itself was kind of different with a water feature in the middle of one of the galleries. I wonder if people accidentally get wet sometimes.
In the State Library now using the wireless and letting my feet have a break, cos they've been working all yesterday and today until now. Should go back out though, cos it's maybe the third day of sun I've had since I came up. Anyway, I will continue the rest of this tale later.
