Cushions, Books and Training

This morning's train ride was interesting, chiefly because my sisters and I all had a 100L bag of beanbag beans each. This piqued the curiosity of passengers sitting nearby, as such large bags would be wont to. Walking in to uni was an interesting experience. The bags were pretty light, but bulky. At times I had to peer around it as it was kind of hard to see over something that is about two-thirds as tall as you.

Anyhow, the whole point of the exercise was to fill up some meditation cushions that our society ordered. This had to be one of the most amusing and bizarre event our society has held. IT was full of beans falling everywhere, trying to make funnels of anything we had on hand, hot drinks and snacks. Many familiar people wandered by and said hello. We also sang Happy Birthday to a friend of my sister's, who was terribly embarrassed by the attention of the entire level of the building. That's what happens when you have friends like my sister's (they are a trifle bizarre, but great fun). In the end, we only ended up using 1 bag of beans, so the other 2 are cooling their heels in someone's PhD office and the USU volunteer's office. It's great to know people around the place.

I dashed off afterwards to keep an appointment with my Honours supervisor. I've had a bit of trouble over my Research Design, so it was a relief to find that my supervisor, another researcher and I have all been thinking about solutions. We all came to a similar solution too, which is pretty nifty. With that no longer stressing me, I was able to ask for more reading material (as if I didn't have enough to do) for my thesis. The piles of books, papers and theses are piling up. My room will once again soon resemble a document storage facility.

After a brief trip to the library, I went in search of lunch before heading towards kendo training. Managed to run into another kendoka or three along the way. Training was fairly basic today; my first full training session for a couple of weeks now. I was asked afterwards if I'm not bored of doing the same thing over and over again. Admittedly, I should be making the next step soon. I feel like I am making some progress, but of course there are still times when I wish my body would listen to my head a bit more. Probably still thinking too much. There are a ton of things that need work, but I guess everyone feels that way about their kendo.

Had a good conversation/s with a friend on the way to the train station on a variety of topics. The train ride home was packed, as our line always is at that time of day. Dinner was really tasty, or maybe I was just really hungry. Mum's vegetable soup though is really something else. In the middle of not doing much at all, although I was attempting to read something.
