Return of the Sisters

No, this is not the title of some b-grade film, rather the narrative of my day.

After a week of trying to recover from what I suspect is a lingering jet lag - my constant need to sleep almost all the time, not doing much and waking at early hours - my sisters have returned home from their respective travels.

The sister two years younger than me arrived first from Japan, in the Domestic terminal, via the Gold Coast. She had a snowboarding bag which she brought back in lieu of her other luggage bag, sans snowboard, which is actually at home. Bit of a long story.

Anyway, we went to the International airport, where my other sister (three years younger) and her friend were returning from Melbourne. (I know, the direction of these flights is a bit out of whack.) Her flight was delayed though, so were were waiting for over an hour. Got time to catch up though. She finally arrived and thankfully didn't have to go through customs, as she had only flown domestically.

We got home after dropping my sister's friend off up the road. Mum had prepared a really nice lunch for us, after which the three of us did a sort of show-and-tell of souvenirs and some travel stories. The lounge ended up a bit of a war zone.

Chat lasted until a late dinner, during which my brother returned. It was about 5 when I noticed that he hadn't come home yet and school finishes early on Wednesdays. As his phone is out, we spent some time trying to figure out how to access his friends' numbers on his SIM before he called. Odd boy. He'd gone to his friend's place.

Did a lot more catching up and stuff after dinner, before I decided I was sleepy.

It is nice to have a chatty, messy household again. When even one person is missing, the house seems more empty.
