Mm, when we walked out of the apartment today, there was a flurry of snow. Against the backdrop of the very low visibility fog embracing the city, it was a pretty cold day; our coldest yet for this journey. Thankfully, not much wind.
We were basically having a slow day and wandering through the West End of the city where we are staying, looking in on a few shops (those that are open on a Sunday) to find a few souvenirs, it being our last day in Scotland.
As Glasgow has been hailed the curry capital of the world on a number of occasions, we had lunch at the highly and variously recommended Indian place, The Wee Curry Shop - which has a charity lunch for autism on the last Sunday of every month. The food was fantastic and just what we wanted after experiencing the chill of the day. The staff were also very friendly. Our splurge for this leg of the journey, as we have been fairly economical so far.
Up on the hill where the University of Glasgow is, there was more snow than down where we were, so I managed to get some pretty shots of the area. I've been taking a lot of photos on this vacation, considering that most of tiime I forget I have a camera with me; many of them are quite good. I'll have far more of my travelling companions than of me, but we'll be pooling our snaps.
A last visit to the Kelvingrove gallery shop, a souvenir shop and the local supermarket was all we did until it got too cold for us to want to do anything else but find the warm comfort of the indoors. It was still early, but we had to pack up our stuff as we're flying out tomorrow, as well as have an amusing session with the European languages phrasebook. I wonder how we'll fare.
It's been really easy to feel at home in Glasgow; well, except perhaps for the weather. I'd have loved to have stayed longer, but I'm sure I'll feel that way about most of the places we'll be visiting over the next couple of months. Well, it's farewell Scotland, hello Germany.
