Mixed Cuisine

It is customary at our place to have the staple rice and a few side dishes of meat and vegetable for dinner. If it's not rice, then it is rice noodles of some description or other.

It is just as common though, for a strange mixture of cuisines to take place. For example, I have just finished eating tacos and goi cuon (Vietnamese pork and prawn rolls) tonight. Once again, I was struck by our strange eating habits. Just this afternoon, there were sushi rolls on the island in the kitchen, as well as shallot pancakes. It is not unusual, of an evening when we are pressed for something to make, that we will have fish fingers with our rice for example. Or indeed, to have rice with roasts.

I like food from all sorts of places, so this isn't a complaint. I just wonder how much other people experience this sort of strange combination of flavours.
