Glasgow, Scotland: Chill Winds and Lots of Walking

Well, here we are in Glasgow, Scotland.

After spending over 30 hours travelling - either flying, or waiting to fly and a bus from the airport - we have since walked everywhere, with our luggage, as we were feeling sick of transportation. I can only say, thank goodness that Glasgow is a relatively small city.

I'm glad we decided on Scotland. Things are familiar here, with enough novelty to make it interesting and rather exciting. I don't think any of us have adjusted to the time change yet, caught somewhere in between.

After reaching our accommodation yesterday, we did little else other than showering and sleeping until breakfast this morning. We then walked through Kelvingrove Park, encountering some wildlife and admiring the soft northern sunlight through the bare trees. It is quite different to Australia's bright lights. We spent some time wandering through some of the art and natural history exhibitions. They had some good interpretative panels and a massive collection. Didn't have time to savour everything, so we might go back. We listened to the afternoon organ recital for a while before deciding it was time to hunt down some food. After searching for a while, we ended up getting Thai food that was filling, hot and indoors in the warmth.

We headed back to the hotel to pick up our luggage, before walking all the way to our new accommodation: an apartment near the children's hospital. Got a good rundown on the nifty place and local environs by the owner - a really nice lady. We headed towards the local supermarket before it got dark (it gets dark at about 3:30pm here) to pick up the makings for dinner.

Tomorrow, we're headed to Stirling where a friend of mine will meet us. It looks like rain, but that is only part of the entire Scottish experience.
